ALF IN BALI
MREC at Udayana University

In a project jointly funded with YKIP, ALF has equipped a medical reference and education center (MREC) at Udayana University, Bali. Students and doctors now have better access to information for their studies and medical research. MREC offers comprehensive facilites including online medical references, books, and computers with internet access.

Special English programs and a fully equipped language lab are provided on the same premises to assist students in upgrading their English skills. We hope to assist the MREC to establish research links with similar institutions overseas so that knowledge and expertise can be shared.

ALF founder Mark Weingard officially opened the Medical Reference and Education Center on October 13, 2003. MREC represents a significant step towards improving medical facilities on the island and hopefully will serve as a fertile ground for developing local medical genius.

Beginning in 2007, the Annika Linden Chair was established.  This is a new program in Public Health where a Public Health expert shall hold courses on internet and field research as well as assist faculty and students with writing research papers and reports.  The first chair was I Made Setiawan, PhD, who taught from 2008 – 2009.
